Caipirinha de Uva Cocktail Recipe
The Rio 2016 Summer Olympics are on the horizon and deserve a gold-medal worthy cocktail to match. Toast to the host of the upcoming games with the Caipirinha de Uva cocktail featuring cachaça, the national spirit of Brazil. Prosecco DOC made from the Glera “uva” (Portuguese for grape) adds a celebratory touch to the drink, and is a simple upgrade to the classic libation that’s enjoyed throughout the South American country.
2.0 oz. Cachaça
1.5 oz. Prosecco DOC
2 teaspoons raw sugar, such as turbinado or Demerara
7 green grapes
4 lime wedges
In cocktail shaker, add lime wedges, 5 grapes, and sugar. Muddle until fruit is crushed and juices are released. Add cachaça and ice, and shake vigorously for 25 seconds. Pour into old-fashioned glass and top with Prosecco DOC. Garnish with remaining grapes and serve immediately.
