Blue Moon Julep Cocktail Recipe
What a refreshing and elevated take on the Mint Julep! From Sazerac Restaurant in Seattle by its Head Bartender Keith Villanueva.
The bourbon used in this cocktail was a special single-barrel selection chosen by the distiller for Sazerac. In fact, the barrel is on display at Sazerac. This special spirit shines through a cocktail that can wash away whiskies of lesser character. The brown sugar mint syrup blends well with the caramel and toffee notes of the whiskey, and the mint bitters flesh out the herbaceous qualities of the mint leaf. Doesn't that sound so good?!
2.5 oz Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Bourbon
0.5 oz Mint Syrup (use equal parts brown sugar, water and mint)
3 Dashes Mint Bitters
Build in Julep Cup over crushed ice, top more crushed ice, garnish with mint spring and dash of powdered sugar.
