Sweet Pup Cocktail Recipe
A salty sunrise. This cocktail is a creation of Jennie Rips and Maria Littlefield, the co-founders of Owl’s Brew. Originally without salt, they were sitting by the pool and their friend who is also a chef improvised and added salt. They loved it so much that they changed the recipe!
Self proclaimed “tea-drinking boozers (always in moderation)”, Jennie and Maria started Owl’s Brew to bring their passion for tea and cocktails together. They are the co-authors of WISE COCKTAILS, A DIY Guide to Crafting Tea-Based Cocktails. They were selected by the Specialty Food Association as “35 under 35” among food and beverage entrepreneurs.
Owl’s Brew is the first ever “tea crafted for cocktails”. It is brewed in Vermont in large kettles, where it is handcrafted in small batches, and then sweetened, packed, and bottled. It is intended to be paired with a variety of spirits, in a variety of ways.
Ingredients (for 1 serving):
1.5 oz. Owl’s Brew Pink & Black
1.5 oz. cranberry juice
1.5 oz. gin
1/4 teaspoon salt
Chill a coupe glass in a freezer for at least 5 mins. In a shaker, combine the Pink & Black, cranberry juice, gin and salt. Using a bar spoon, stir to ensure that the salt is fully dissolved. Add ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain and pour into the chilled glass.
